Your loud silence cannot secure the nation’s peace – Yamin
A former deputy minister of Youth and Sport under the erstwhile Mahama, Joseph Yamin has expressed shocked at the so-called Menof God and others who claim they stand for the interest and peace of Ghana and yet had become onlookers to the happenings in the country.
He said the loud silence of the media, Civil Society Groups, Non-Governmental Organisations, chiefs, international organisations, professional associations, workers unions and well-meaning members of the society spells doom for the country.
Considering what has happened in the country with regard to the electoral violence, he criticised President Akufo-Addo and people in leadership for not condemning the act and sympathising with families who have lost their relations, as a result of election.
His ultimate surprise goes to the Peace Council that he believes has failed on its mandate to boldly come out to condemn the atrocity being perpetrated and meted out to ordinary citizens after the Monday’s polls.
He reiterated that people have been shot simply because they were protesting for their rights, stressing “everybody is quiet. Are we interested in the peace we are enjoying in this country or we are interested in satisfying ones’ personal interest. Because what I see from the statement from the NPP and Kennedy Agyapong, they are not speaking for the
country, they are speaking for themselves.”
