Witness fails to pin female ‘coup plotter’ on kill Akufo-Addo utterances
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Nkrumah has failed to identify video evidence, which implicates the only female among nine men who allegedly President Akufo-Addo should be killed.
DC/Inspt Nkrumah although was very sure of himself that there’s a video evidence to that the female soldier, Esther Saan told a team of soldiers and others present at a purported meeting that President Akufo-Addo should be killed, the said audio-visual recording was never not identified
Lamtiig Apanga, counsel for Esther Saan, suggested to Mr Nkrumah, 13th prosecution witness (PW13),whether it was the video of July 8, 2018, which the female soldier was captured and the witness said yes.
Unfortunately, after the video was screened, the alleged statement was not identified but Esther was heard lamenting over why she should use her phone and units to be making calls to benefit Take Action Ghana (TAG).
The witness insisted that there is a video other than the July 8, 2018 video, which Esther made those utterances but couldn’t prove it.
Counsel: Your allegation that A6 (Esther) uttered those word is not supported by any evidence?
Witness: That is not true my lord.
Counsel: A6 never used those words that you are alleging
Witness. That is not true my lord.
Mr Apanga also challenged the witness that the July 8, 2018 is the only video that Esther was captured at a meeting.
Defence counsel told the court presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwi, justice Hafisata Amalebob and Justice Stephen Oppong that the prosecution had split one of the video evidences into two.
According to him, video evidence of June 22, 2018 and July 8, 2018 transcriptions are basically the same, saying: “I’m putting it you that the transcripts of the alleged meeting of 22nd June, 2018 and 18th July, 2018 are almost word for word,” but PW13 answered “I don’t think so.”
Mr Apanga stated further that: “I m putting it to you that the single meeting that A6 attended had been split into audio and video to deceive the court that A6 attended two meeting” and the witness said that is not true.
The counsel argued that Esther was never part of any WhatsApp in relation to any coup plot and as such never participated in any event or meeting at the Citadel Hospital, a health facility owned the Dr Mac Palm, the supposed leader of the coup plot.
The witness answered in affirmative but added that she attended meetings at the Nextdoor Beach Resort.
