Visually Impaired Student Grateful to MTN Ghana
A visually impaired student at Wisely College in Kumasi, Nzo Paulinus has expressed his deepest gratitude to the MTN Ghana Foundation for awarding him a Bright Scholarship.
Nzo is among 200 students from various public tertiary institutions selected for the 2024/2025 academic year.
As an orphan facing significant challenges, emphasized that without this scholarship, he would struggle to achieve his goal of becoming a trained teacher.
The scholarship package includes tuition, accommodation, laptops, and stipends to support students in their studies.
Mr. Robert Kuzoe, Senior Manager of the MTN Ghana Foundation, announced the selection on September 25, 2024, at KNUST’s Law Faculty in Kumasi.
He noted that the foundation received approximately 1,500 applications, which were narrowed down to 400 before the final 200 were chosen through interviews.
Kuzoe highlighted MTN’s commitment to improving the lives of young people through education, emphasizing that education is essential for national development and poverty alleviation.
He explained that the scholarship program, initiated in 2018, aims to relieve the financial burdens of disadvantaged students and reduce dropout rates due to financial constraints.
MTN launched the Bright Scholarship to assist talented yet underprivileged students as part of a commitment made during its 25th anniversary celebrations in 2016.
Kuzoe reiterated that the initiative reflects MTN’s dedication to empowering Ghanaian youth and investing in their futures.
He stated that the scholarship has transformed lives, allowing students to focus on their studies without financial worries, thereby fostering academic excellence and reducing school abandonment rates.
