Two persons linked to Kokrobite thugs granted bail
Two more accused persons – Asafoatse Ataaties (A5) and Joshua @ Landguard (A10) – linked to a riot that happened at Kokrobite in the Greater Accra had been granted bail by an Accra Circuti Court in a total of GHC1 million, two common sureties, one should be public servant earning not less than GHC2, 000.00 monthly.
These two were among five other accused persons who were remanded into police custody last week on the accounts of conspiracy to commit crime, intentionally causing unlawful damage, threat of death, and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace.
The other three accused persons still in police custody are Ataa Yaw Oshipi (A6), Gyan alias Top (A7), Korley Tse @ Shark (A8), Ofei (A9).
The court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Essandoh has earlier remanded others in connection with the case namely, Ahene Emmanuel @ Offeimedia (A1), Stephen Nii Kwei Laryea @Waakye (A2), Samuel Ofei @ Holy (A3) and Noah Acquah @ Mantse (A4) in the total sum of GH¢2 million with a common surety who is gainfully employed, earning not less than GH¢2,000 a month.
The court is trying 12 accused persons in all but two of them, Nii Offei III (11) and Nukman Kwame Agbo (12), are currently on the run.
Mr Essandoh has, therefore, given an order for the two accused persons at large to be arrested on bench warrant, and has further ordered a publication of the picture in the media.
The accused persons, according to the prosecutor, Inspector Eric Pobee were reported to the police by one
Daniel Nii Arde Tagoe, the Head of family for Nii Arde Nkpa Clan of Kokrobite, Tuba and Langma.
According to the prosecuting officer Inspector Eric Pobee, the complainant is a resident of Dansoman while the accused persons, some of them reside at Kokoribite and the police could not establish.
He narrated to the court that on January 6, 2022, an announcement was made at the Kokrobite Information Center that, Daniel Nii Arde Tagoe the head of family of Nii Arde Nkpa will address the community on a ruling of an Accra High Court dated December 4, 2021.
Inspt Pobee indicated that while the family was preparing for the event at a center close to a Pentecost church premises at the community on January 7, A1 upon hearing the announcement, organized and led a group of Iand guards including the accused persons to the event center wielding pump action guns and other offensive weapons.
He alleged that the accused verbally issued a threat warnings at the event center that, if the head of family Daniel Nii Ardey Tagoe dares to steps his foot on the grounds of the event they will kill him.
“The accused persons again issued a video footage which is on asocial media to prove their intention to kill Daniel Nii Ardey Tagoe.
“First accused person went ahead and commanded his group and together with them, they intentionally caused damaged to the canopies, chairs, tables and the spinning machines at the event center which valued are not yet known,” he stated.
The prosecutor said Samuel Ofori Otchie@Holy, Korley Tse @ Shark and Ofoe were seen wielding pump action guns and shooting indiscriminately in the air, scaring all who were gathered at the event.
He said on 10/01/2022, the complainant filed a complaint at the regional C1D/Accra and upon intel A1 to A4 were arrested from their hideout at Kokrobite.
“During investigation, first accused admitted to the offence and mentioned suspect Nii Offei III as the one who gave him the orders to stop the event which was being organized by the Nii Arde Nkpa family after hearing the announcement from the Kokrobite Information center and the Police also managed to a get the video foot,” he said.
