Two friends snatched and stabbed a taxi driver with broken bottle
Two friends- Brain Abrahim and Solomon Azure- all unemployed had been arraigned before an Accra Circuit for their allegedly joint action of snatching a taxi and stabbing the driver with a broken bottle.
Brain, first accused (A1) also respond to the nickname Red while Solomon (A2) has his as Baba Sulley and 2Pac.
Per allegation levelled against them as conspiracy to commit crime and robbery contrary to Section 14 of the Criminal offences Act (Act2), Red aged 32 pleaded guilty while 2Pac, 24, said he is not.
The court presided over His Honour Mr Emmanuel Essandoh was informed that the friends on June 2nd, 2020 engaged the service the complainant, one Emmanuel Fosu Yeboah who was in-charged of a Daewoo Matriz.
According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Samuel Ayengbo Red and 2Pac purportedly boarded the taxi with the registration number GG 2486-18 at the Batsona Total Filing Station at about 11:40pm that they were going to Emef Estate Lashibi.
On reaching the destination, the passengers ordered the taxi driver to stop at a spot called Celebrity Golf Park.
Unknown to the driver, 2Pac who was at the passenger seat at the back alighted and acted as if he was going to pay the fares while Red remained seated in the front seat, then pull a surprise at Emmanuel by attacking him with a broken bottle.
Emmanuel was pulled out of the taxi and stabbed several times by 2Pac whose accomplice quickly took hold of the steering wheel and sped off together.
The friends told the police after their arrest on June 3rd while trying to escape with the car, that they have known each other from March this year at Avenor Park.
Red, resident of Agbogbloshie Yam-Market was informed by 2Pac, resident of Kumasi Airport that one Nana is offering huge money for taxi.
2 Pac then came and lodged with Red in Accra to plot on May 24 to snatch taxi and sell, which June 2nd launched their plan on Emmanuel.
Emmanuel lodged a complaint, which led to the arrest of the friends at Opkuase Ayawasu Junction by the Police Patrol Team.
The friends mentioned one Nana and Didda as the persons they were on their way to hand over the car to in their caution statement.
However, since Red pleaded guilty to the charges, he was granted bail in the sum of GHC100, 000 with two sureties, one to be a public servant. Red was represented by Lawyer Raphael Kofi Bonin.
2 Pac on the other pleaded not guilty because he stabbed the victim/complainant by accident since they were struggling over the bottle.
The case was adjourned to June 30th for continuation.
