Rotary International marks 58th Interact Week Celebration

The Rotary International through its Interact District 9102 comprising of Ghana, Togo, Benin and Niger, has launched its 58th Interact Week Celebration. 

The launch of the event was held virtually via zoom due to the circumstances of the Covid-19 brought a number of participants from at least four African countries to discuss issues of including expanding the club’s membership and reaching out to more youths through career mentorship programmes.

The Special Guest of Honour for the event, who happens to be the Past District Governor for Rotary International District 9102, Rotarian Jeffrey Afful in his address, indicated that Rotary has always been committed to the needs of young people and children, right from its early days. 

He said Rotary since 1913 had engaged in various projects that continue to serve the needs of people and children.

Rotarian Afful encouraged the various sponsoring Rotary Clubs’ committees to need to find innovative ways of engaging, as well as getting their interactors engaged as expected of them.

The organising chair for this year’s Interact Week celebration, Rotarian Andrews Ofosuhene, expressed appreciation to sponsoring Rotary Clubs for their consistent support for their various Interact Clubs.

He as well showed appreciation to Past Interact Presidents and executives for their commitment and dedication towards the group while describing them as selfless leaders.

Goodwill messages were received from the New Generations Chair; Rotarian Alpha Abbey-Odani (Charter President), District Rotaract Chair; Rotarian Johnson Dweben, who serves as the District Rotaract Chair and Rotarian Past President Naana thé District Vocational Service Chair.

 Activities scheduled for the week-long celebration include Project Fair by Interactors, Career Counselling as well as an Inter-Club quiz competition among others.

Background

Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 with the aim of developing their leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self in them.

Interact was formed in 1962 and among its core mandates, the group is expected to take action, build international understanding and make new friends around the world. 

There are currently over 342,953 interactors from 14,911 Interact Club in 145 Countries globally.
