The Police Service Head of Legal and Prosecutions, Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye has admonished recruits who were passing out to become Constables that the Service has no reward for personal feelings, animosity or friendship and political affiliation.

According to him, the police is regulated by many legal frameworks, namely the 1992 Constitution, the Police Service Act, 1970 (Act 350), Police Service Regulations CI 73, Service Instruction just to mention but a few.

By the regulative instrument governing the Police Service, the system will reject any character who so desire to demand for instant gratification or go contrary to the ethics of the profession.

“Dear recruits, I want you to get this, the police system work like money counting machine; it accepts, counts and maintains you if you are genuine money.  However, if you are counterfeit, the system will reject you and cast you off. The police system will exposed you if you allow personal feelings, animosity or friendship, political affiliation to influence your official calling,” he warned.

He remember the recruits that their official calling as a police officer is an honourable one but it does not set them apart from the society or community they are to serve.

COP Kofi Boakye reiterated that they are being given an authority to serve the public, hitherto, they are also to remember that they are also members of the public.

He holds a strong view that within the few months of their training, they have been taught and mentored with all that can make them efficient police officers to diligently perform their duties, hence should avoid not to deviate from it.

In all 1,183 recruits passed out at the yesterday’s parade held in Accra, which in the frequency distribution table had 352, Kumasi, 188, Pwalugu, 372, Ho 158, and Koforidua, 113, Police Training Schools across the country.

Police Woman Recruit Edith Dede Nako Mensah emerged as the overall best recruit.

For the Police Administration to keep to meeting the target of modern policing, it has retrain 1,924 Constables on High Risk Operation by the Formed Police Unit (FPU), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) and Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT).
