The brief facts read by the police prosecuting officer by Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey to the court indicated that the Bombo ring leader, Ali Awudu aka Bombo (A1) was arrested from his hideout after a bench warrant was issued to that effect.

But the lawyer for the Bomber group leader, Jerry Avenorgbo told the court presided over by Rosemary Torsu Baah that the prosecution lied.

According to him, what the prosecution has told the court was far from the truth, as Ali came to his office and he personally took him to the Nima Police Station.

Mr. Avenorgbo went as far as putting his license on the line if the prosecution could prove him wrong.

The lawyer used the opportunity to plead for bail for Ali and another, Hunu Dawud also known as Woman Ghana were arraigned before the court for their involvement in a riot that ensued at Nima in Accra.

However, Ms. Torsu remanded the Bombo ring leader and granted Hunu Dawud also known as Woman Ghana, bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties and expected to report to the Nima police station twice every week.

Ali Awudu alias Bombo pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, rioting with a weapon, and causing harm and Hunu also pleaded not guilty to a charge of abetment to commit the crime, namely rioting with an offensive weapon.

Hunu who is the wife of one of the rioters and was arrested and arraigned before the court for aiding the riot by supplying weapons to fuel the chaos was granted bail on the condition that she was a lactating woman of one and half-year-old baby.
