Kennedy Agyapong’s Doctor court appearance date changed

The various media houses’ reporters flocked the Accra Land Divisional High Court to take records of proceedings of a contempt case leveled against the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

Actually, today’s proceedings was to have the medical officer of Holy Trinity Hospital and Spa, Dr Ken Addo to defend a medical excuse duty he signed for his patient Kennedy Agyapong.

Dr Addo was scheduled to justify the true statement of the excuse by the Member Parliament reason for absenting himself from court for the determination of the contempt charges brought against him.

Mr Agyapong inability to appear before the court presided over by Justice Amos Wuntah Wuni was explained by his defence counsel as not deliberate but for health reasons.

According to him, the Assin Central Member of Parliament had suffered post Covid-19 complications after September 25, 2020 sitting.

To buttress this assertion, he provided a proof to the claim, of which Dr Addo was the signatory.

The sitting judge, in order not just accept the health excuse hook, line and sinker, hence issued that the said health officer appear before him to justify the truthfulness of the statement he signed today.

As a result, core media firms within Accra assigned their journalists to follow proceeding to enable them get the public informed of the development.

Ironically, the journalists after feverishly waiting for hours without any sign of the doctor nor the judge or lawyers coming into the court, begun to seek audience from the court clerk who offered no help.

However, when out of frustration the journalists were about to exit the court premises, information was gathered the judge upon sober reflection after hearing the lead counsel Kennedy Agyapong, decided to give the medical officer additional one week to appear before him.

Therefore, Dr Ken Addo’s appear before the court today, October 1 has been rescheduled to October 6.
