Kennedy Agyapong suffered side effect of antibiotic – court told
The medical officer of Holy Trinity Spa and Health Farm, Dr Kennedy Kwabena Addo has told an Accra Land Divisional Court that the Medical Excuse Duty Form that he signed was to enable his patient Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to stay off duty for 14 days was not mere a excuse.
According to him, he gave that long period of time not to deliberately cause delay to the contempt trial against his patient who is a Member of Parliament for Assin Central.
Dr Addo explained the medical excuse duty form issuance was necessitated by the side effect of a medicine that was administered to the lawmaker when admitted to the hospital on September 25, 2020 at 10:15pm and was later discharged on the next day September 26, 2020.
According to Dr Addo, he was called from home to attend to Mr Aggyapong, since he had an accident last month.
Meanwhile, the trying judge, Justice Amos Wuntah Wuni quelled his suspicious of the medical excuse duty form by questioning the medical officer why he failed to state the Outpatient number as well as the age of Kennedy Agyapong on the said form but instead wrote at the age column, adult.
The Medical doctor agreed and said it was a common practice in the medical field, since he did not want to disclose the public figure’s age but could have easily done so if he was a child.
However, lawyers for Dr Addo and Mr Kennedy Agyapong, C.H. Chambers and Mr Afenyo Markins respectively prayed the court not to go into the details of the medical form.
