The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tema East, Isaac Ashai Odamtten has urged constituents to shun misleading reports that he is nowhere to be found after his election at the primaries.

According to him, the party has duly been informed about his wherabouts, hence could not fathom why some individuals are painting the picture that he has gone missing.

Explaining to The Ghanalynk.com in a telephone interview, he said “I am still in the race” and that he was out of the country to network with friends and supporters in the diaspora.

He added that the party is not new to this information since the party’s hierarchy and the constituency executives, as they were properly informed and made aware even before and during the primaries.

What has caused his “disappearance” since September last year was for the same reason of networking with other friends in the diaspora and was due to return in March when the country unfortunately recorded its first cases of the corona virus, leading to the boarder closure and the enforcement of other restrictions.

He is currently anticipating reopening of the borders to return and start hitting the grounds running.

However, he urged the party executives to whet the appetites of electorates with vigorous campaigns, as at the end of the day, it is their votes that will give the party victory.

Mr Ashai Odamtten pleaded with that the party’s constituency executives to keep the focus on the electorates, as their prime concern, adding “the work is at the branches and the grassroots.”

He also argued that the Electoral Commission has not opened nomination, hence do not understand the agitation of his absence, which is not deliberate to cause the NDC any harm in whatever way or manner.

The once Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema further advised the executives to consider weighing the options that would favour the party and his candidature come December 7, 2020.

The parliamentary aspirant currently hope that the borders are reopened as soon as possible to enable him to come and join his effort to the good work that party’s executives are doing.

He reiterated that the agenda of the campaign should be about preaching the achievements of the NDC and other good things that it has in store for the citizenry.
