The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has issued a stern warning to political parties in Ghana, urging them to seek redress through lawful channels and avoid actions that might necessitate intervention from the electoral security taskforce.

During the security taskforce recent engagement with the Electoral Commission, IGP Dampare emphasized the critical role that political parties play in maintaining a peaceful electoral process.

He cautioned against arbitrary actions that could disrupt the law, security and order, urging parties to conduct their activities within the legal framework.

IGP Dampare underscored the interconnectedness of Ghanaians, noting that political affiliations do not overshadow the shared bonds of kinship and unity.

He expressed the belief that this awareness should foster a more considerate approach to political activities, steering parties away from actions driven solely by the quest for power.

The IGP assured the public that the security taskforce would act with integrity and professionalism, promising a strong presence at polling stations to ensure a smooth and secure voter exhibition exercise.

He also called on other agencies to support this commitment, aiming to make the 2024 general elections one of the most peaceful in Ghana’s history.

Dr. Dampare reiterated the importance of safeguarding Ghana’s peace, describing the country as a precious entity that deserves protection.

He urged all citizens to contribute to the preservation of peace, reminding them of their responsibility to future generations.

IGP Dampare further added that all conflicts and disagreements be resolved through legal means, stressing that any actions undermining the country’s peace and security would not be tolerated.
