I have listened to Akufo-Addo & Chief Justice phone conversation – Kevin Taylor
Ghana’s biggest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in the Supreme Court seeking Constitutional interpretation of some articles regarding the country’s electoral registration processes.
The issue that has pushed the political party to the court was that the Electoral Commission (EC) is bent on excluding the current voter identification (ID) card as part of requisite requirements for the registration of electorates in the upcoming mass registration.
However, the Apex Court hearing the case yesterday, June 4, 2020, ordered the Electoral Commission to provide it with a legal grounds for excluding the existing voter ID card that had been in use since 2012.
Interestingly, an investigation and broadcast journalist, Kevin Ekow Taylor has told the world through his Loud Silence Radio and TV that the order made by the Superior Court was nothing but a hoax, since Chief Justice Anin Yeboah was only acting on the directive of the president.
Kevin on the live show with about 1006 viewers, confidently alleged that he had listened to a telephone conversation between President Akufo-Addo and the Chief Justice, which happened two days before the court sitting.
The host of With All Due Respect said he has bugged into the telephone conversation between President Akufo-Addo and Chief Justice Anin Yeboah, which lasted for 37 minutes on Tuesday night.
According to him, in the said telephone conversation, the president was urging the Chief Justice not rush to give the court’s decision on the matter else it will justify the position of the NDC that he [Justice Anin Yeboah] was appointed to do the bidden of the government.
He, therefore, urged the opposition NDC to look elsewhere for their grievances to be addressed, since the Supreme Court has been compromised, as a result will never rule in their favour.
In his view, the opposition parties should not waste their time with the court but rather must march to the various Embassies and High Commissions to present their petition on the happenings in the country.
According to him, the Electoral Commission and the government want to contravene the electoral process to deny most Ghanaians of their basic right to select a political leader of their choice.
The self-acclaimed anti-corruption crusader further made wild allegations that out of the allocated GHC390 million to Electoral Commission for the conduct of the voter registration exercise, the president alone would be benefiting GHC7 million while the EC bosses- Jean Mensah and her deputies get GHC5.5million.
He also disputed the fact that the New Patriotic Party won the 2016 elections with over one million votes margin, adding that the actual vote difference was rather 240,000.
Mr Taylor predicted mayhem to be caused by hired vigilantes groups, especially in the Volta region.
