Honyenuga enraged over Seidu Agongo’s health excuses
Justice Clemence Honyenuga has threatened to do three things, if the second accused (A2) in a cocoa try, Seidu Agongo, fails to appear before him on Monday, February 20, 2023.
The presiding judge, of a case he claimed had not travelled for six years, said the court has enormous powers to continue proceedings with or without A2, the court also has the discretion to revoke his bail and would not take further excuses from the accused.
With an impending limited time to hear the case, Justice Honyenuga said he is not willing to entertain any excuses that might further delay the trial.
The second accused for three adjourned dates had been absent from court on excuse duty.
Hitherto, attempt to verify from the 37 Military Hospital by the Registrar of the court whether A2 was actually admitted at the said health facility proved futile.
But legal counsel for Seidu Agongo and his company, Agricult Ghana Limited, Nutififa Nutsukpi has presented two medical reports from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the 37 Military.
According to the court, A2 presented health conditions such as sleeping disorder, stress induced, anxiety, and spinal stenosis, which he is receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, His Lordship of the Supreme Court has just about two weeks to complete his six months contract after his retirement in September last year.
With the case still at the stage where the first accused in the trial, Former Executive Officer (CE) Dr Stephen Kwabena Opuni, seventh defence witness (DW7) still in the box, His Lordship has also equally come under enormous pressure from the powers that be.
