Ghanaians urged to monitor AI impact on Cybersecurity
Ghanaians are being encouraged to closely monitor the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on cybersecurity to ensure ethical and responsible use of the internet.
At the 2024 Cybersecurity Challenge Competition Middle Zone, Mr. Simon Amoh, Senior Manager of Regional Sales for the Northern Business District, highlighted the growing importance of AI in cybersecurity.
He pointed out that while AI can significantly bolster our defensive capabilities, it also poses risks as it may be exploited by malicious actors to launch more sophisticated cyber-attacks.As we integrate advanced technologies, Mr. Amoh stressed the need for ethical and responsible internet use.
He urged contestants to develop cybersecurity solutions that will positively impact Ghana and contribute to a safer digital environment.
He emphasized that cybersecurity is not merely about protecting data but about maintaining the trust and integrity of our digital society.
The competition, themed “Empowering Young Minds, Creating Opportunities, Promoting Safer Digital Ghana,” was praised for fostering digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness among students.
Mr. Amoh commended the Cyber Security Authority, participants, and all stakeholders for their contributions to the event, which has been held for the third consecutive year.
He noted that with the rapid advancement of technology and the increasing sophistication of cyber threats, such events are crucial for building awareness and preventing cyber-attacks.
MTN, a proponent of continuous education and innovation, has pledged to support initiatives that promote secure and safer digital experiences for the younger generation.
