Election is an aspect of democracy not violence – Ga Mantse

Ga Mantse Boni Nii Tackie Adama Latse II has beseeched Ghanaians, especially the youth to act responsibly, as the country embarks on another journey of the election of President and Parliamentarians.

According to him, this year’s General Election, which is couple of days away, is here again to test the citizens endurance and temperament to continuously maintenance the peace of the country.

In a press release issued today by the Office of the Ga Mantse admonished that electorates not violate the electoral process and the peace the country has enjoyed over years.

To plead with the people, he said “I call upon the electorates to focus on peace and tranquillity as they make their choice of candidates.

“Our country has for a good number of years enjoyed relative peace in the sub-region and it behoves on us to ensure that this treasure is maintained before, during and after the general elections.”

Focusing he attention specifically on the youth, he urged them to be wary of politicians who will attempt to lure them into any acts of violence and electoral malpractice.

The Ga Mantse pointed out to the youth that their role in the election is to cast their votes peacefully in accordance of the dictates of their conscience.

Acknowledging that absolute peace cannot be achieved without the security agencies equally playing their just role, he entreated them to exhibit high level of professionalism and discipline per the requirements of their calling.

He emphasised that electioneering is an aspect of democracy in which citizens exercise their freedom of deciding who become their leaders, therefore, “no one has to refuse any qualified citizen of the country from exercising his franchise.”

“I joined my prayers with all the peace brokers in our nation to wish the candidates the best of luck,” he said.
