Covid-19: Ghandour Cosmetics Ltd Supports Health Ministry
Ghandour Cosmetics, manufacturers of Kleanz hand sanitizer, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has donated 120 boxes of their product to the Ministry of Health in the fight against Coronaviru (Covid-19) pandemic.
Miriam U. Mensah, Head of CSR and Event of Ghandour, on behalf of the company presented the items to the Ministry of Health two days ago at Ridge-Accra.
She explained the gesture as part of the company’s responsibility, as number one hand sanitizer producers, to aid the government’s effort in containing the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to her, the company would also be extending further help to other selected facilities fighting the pandemic.
Madam Mansah in an interview also disclosed that the company has not inflated prices of its products even though they had challenges in accessing materials to increase production to meet demand.
She insisted that the company had not changed prices of its products rather it was the traders who were doubling or manipulating prices of the commodity on the market.
It must be noted that sanitizer, which has been recommended to be used at the absence of running water and soap, to enable one to avoid been infected, price was tripled on the market due to high demand.
For instance a bottle of sanitizer, which ranges between GHC3.00 to GHC8 were increased to GH8.00 and GH50.000 exponentially.
Minister of Health Kwaku Agyeman Manu receiving the items thanked the Ghandour Cosmetics Ltd and used the opportunity to call on others to do same.
He said after the first world war that there an outbreak of influenza nothing had since can be compare with Covid-19 in terms of its magnitude: “We have gone through the Middle East-the SARS, Ebola, but thus doesn’t look like any of them, looking at the magnitude of where we are. So the world is overwhelmed.”
He said it was time people in the corporate world lend their hand of support to Government, saying “What corporate citizens are doing at the moment is quite overwhelming. On behalf of the President and myself we thank you so much.”
The minister added that Ministry is not only working with public facilities but also with faith based and private hospitals so organisations must also consider to support them.
