Court places injunction on nurses’ intended strike
An Accra High Court has ordered the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association to put on hold a request to embark on strike action.
“It is hereby ordered [that] the respondent herein by itself, its executive, officers, members, agents, servants, employees and other persons are hereby restrained from embarking on its intended strike action on Monday the 21st of September, 2020,” the court orders.
The order was based on an application filed by the Labour Commission on September 18, 2020 in support of motion Ex-parte for an order of interlocutory injunction.
According to the court presided over by Frank Aboadwe Rockson, upon hearing yhe submission of the legal representatives of the Labour Commission, Effiba Amihere and Yehoda Kotey, ordered the injunction and to be in force for 10 days, after which the appellant [Commission] is to report back to court on notice.
