Court jails a boy 10 years for stealing
A young man believed to be 20 years old has been jailed by an Accra Circuit Court, 10 years for stealing money to buy clothes.
The 20 year old, Nathaniel Adjei stole the money to buy 11 pairs of jeans trousers, 12 boxer shorts, one travelling bag, four jackets and a belt, all to the tune of GH¢2,500.00.
Nathaniel is a loading boy or porter and resides at Teshie in Accra.
The Accra Circuit Court 10 presided over by Evelyn Asamoah, which handed down the sentence to Nathaniel was told that the convict stole the money from one Doris Ackumey, who is the complainant in the case.
The prosecuting Officer, Chief Inspector John Gohoho told the trial court that the accused person stole an amount of GH¢6,400.00 and a money box containing unspecified sum of money from Doris.
Nathaniel was said to have accessed the money via unlawful entry into the complainant department on April 20, 2022 at about 01:00am.
Nathaniel conducted his operation while the complainant was fast asleep in her room but was said to have been waken up by a strange noise.
The prosecutor narrated to the court that immediately Doris came to her consusness, she found Nathaniel in her room scattering her things.
He said before the complainant could raise alarm, the convict took to his heels and part away with the the amount.
The prosecutor narrated to the court that Doris described the incident to a witness in the case, one Joshua Mensah, who on same day at about 12:00pm assisted in arresting the convict from his hideout at Teshie Adeomi.
Nathaniel was convicted 10 years on unlawful entry and stealing after his own plea of guilty smiplicita yesterday.
