‘Coup plotters’ attempt to remove judges fails
Five of ten accused persons attempt to remove three-empanelled judges from further hearing them has failed vehemently.
The five accused persons represent legally by Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu filed a motion to compel the trial justices from further hearing the case today.
Adawudu’s arguement was based on the grounds that the three justices – Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe, Stephen Oppong and Hafisata Amaleboba – per the law don’t have jurisdiction to try the case.
According to him, the law has made it clear that treason and high treason cases are only to be tried by the High Court and the empanelled judges must also be justice the High Court.
Nevertheless, all three judges had been elevated to the Court of Appeal, and by which they lack jurisdiction to hear the matter.
