Consolidated Bank Ghana Ltd. (CBG) has firmly denied social media reports suggesting that the bank has been sold to a Swedish company.

The allegations were made by Kevin Taylor of Loud Silence Media during a live stream episode on September 17, 2024.

Taylor claimed that the supposed sale is part of a grand scheme orchestrated by President Akufo-Addo and his family to gain control over CBG, using the Swedish company as a front.

He referred to the situation as a plot outlined in the controversial “Agyapade book,” suggesting that the news would be communicated subtly to mislead the public.

In response, CBG’s management clarified that there has been no change in ownership, affirming that the Government of Ghana remains the sole shareholder.

In a press release, the bank labeled the allegations as “entirely false and misleading,” and reassured customers that their deposits and the bank’s operational integrity are secure.

“Consolidated Bank continues to deliver exceptional customer service and innovative products,” the statement emphasized, highlighting the bank’s commitment to its customers.

CBG urged the public to rely on official communication channels for accurate information and reiterated its dedication to transparency and service excellence within the financial sector.
