BCM Ghana Limited has firmly rebutted accusations made by former employees regarding unfair dismissal and alleged mistreatment within the company.

The controversy arose when over 80 employees claimed they were unlawfully terminated from their positions at BCM Ghana Limited, citing various grievances.

According to Simon Terbobri, a former Human Resource Manager at BCM Ghana Ltd, the dismissals were carried out in an unlawful and erratic manner, contrary to established labor laws.

Terbobri alleged that reasons for termination ranged from serious accusations of human rights abuses to trivial allegations, such as espionage for the CEO’s ex-wife, Angela List.

Terbobri further detailed his own experience, stating that upon returning from leave, he was abruptly instructed to take immediate paid leave and was denied access to personal belongings, including his laptop, under the supervision of senior management.

In response to these claims, BCM Ghana Ltd initially provided a statement denying the allegations, asserting that all employee separations are conducted in strict adherence to contractual terms and local labor regulations.

Evans Johnson, the current HR representative, expressed regret over initial miscommunication with the media, clarifying that the company’s response was premature and has since been withdrawn.

The company acknowledged the necessity of downsizing in response to evolving market conditions, citing it as a regrettable yet essential decision in maintaining competitiveness. BCM Ghana Ltd emphasized its commitment to upholding employee rights and stated that no previous reports of sexual harassment had been officially filed, but promised prompt investigation following recent claims.

Regarding Simon Terbobri’s dismissal, BCM Ghana Ltd contended that he was sent home due to alleged intoxication at work, substantiated by evidence provided to media outlets.

The company condemned what it termed as a deliberate attempt to tarnish its reputation, highlighting its significant contributions to Ghana’s mining sector and its training of numerous local professionals to international mining standards.

Legal representatives for Simon Terbobri have reportedly engaged with BCM Ghana Ltd for a potential settlement, with communications ongoing as of June 29, 2024.

In conclusion, BCM Ghana Limited remains resolute in its stance against allegations of wrongful dismissal and misconduct, asserting its adherence to legal norms while preparing to address outstanding concerns through due process.
