Wenchi High Court fines  NPP Parliamentary Candidate

Wenchi High Court has slapped a GHC6,000.00 fine on New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sene West Constituency Parliamentary Candidate (PC), Joseph Kumah Mackay for withdrawing his injunction suit that sought to restrained the Electoral Commission (EC) from counting the ballot after the December 7 polls.
The NPP PC was in court to retrained the EC from counting the ballots, especially for the parliamentary for Tato Battor polling station B, which the incumbent Member of Parliament, Kwame Ampofo Twumasi is an interested party.
Mr Mackay without any specific reason yesterday informed the court he was withdrawing his application.
This submission, caused the court to hand him an amount of GHC 6,000.00 as a punishment to deter others from doing same next time.
This follows the debate by the NDC Legal team led by Lawyer Victor Kwadwo Adawudu that the judge should surcharge him for those unnecessary moves.
The court upheld the prayer and set Thursday, December 17, 2020 to a ruling on the matter.
