The Commandant of Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Rear Admiral Moses Beick-Baffour has urged staff officers to exhibit honesty and loyalty to their superiors and subordinates in the discharge of their duties.

He also stressed the need for the staff officers admit their wrongs whenever they commit while discharging their duties.

Rear Admiral Beick-Baffour urged that the junior officers ought to be candid enough to admit their mistakes whenever they commit them, stressing: “Dishonesty is something a staff officer should not do.”

The Commandant was advising graduands of Junior Division Course 74 Friday at the Otu Barracks at Teshie in Accra.

Rear Admiral Moses Beick-Baffour urged the graduands to continuously seek to improve themselves to enhance their abilities and capacities in the defence profession.

His admonition marked a graduation ceremony held by the college for Junior Division Course 74, as part of its mandate to train and develop their leadership, analytical and communication skills to perform staff duties.

Sixty junior officers graduated with the symbol Junior Defence College (JSC).

The ceremony, aside the Ghanaian counterparts, also had allied students from the Nigeria Army, The Gambia Army, Sierra Leone Army, Guinea Army and Liberia Army.

Addressing the graduands, the Guest Speaker, Major General Richard Adusei (rtd), urged that there was the need for a multi-sectoral approach to combat the emerging threats of trans-national organised crimes, drug trafficking, money laundering, cybercrime, and terrorism in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

His call was based on the fact that no single institution can handle these threats all alone without the support of others.

As a result, Maj. Gen. Adusei entreated the graduands and allied students to use the knowledge and training they had received to promote peace, security and development in their respective home countries.

“I urge you to go out there with the skills acquired to assist in formulating policies and implementing measures that will make our countries and the world a safer place to live in,” he stressed.
