Teacher jailed 15 years for defiling 12 year old boy

 Kwabena Anim Seth, a 30-year-old teacher has been sentenced to 15 year jail term with hard labour for defiling a 12-year-old Junior High School (JHS) student at New Achimota in the Greater Accra region.

Seth was sentenced to prison by An Accra Circuit, on his own plea of guilty for the offence of defiling a child under 16 years of age contrary to section 101(2) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act29).

According to the brief facts of the case as presented to the Deputy Superintended of Police (DSP) Agnes Boafo at an Accra Circuit, the mother of the victim is the complainant.

Thus on June 6th at about 6:50pm, the complainant returned from town to find that the son who is a Junior High School Form One student at New Achimota in the Greater Accra region was not done with his school online assignment.

On top of the issue, the victim had not also taken his bath which got the mother furious, hence collected the smart phone she bought for him purposely for education.

However, the complainant decided to open the phone to see if it was because of the WhatSapp chat with the teacher, Anim, prevented him from doing his assignments but to find out something like a cartoon which two people were having sex.

The complainant confronted the victim about the scene on the phone and he confessed that the teacher was having a sexual relationship with him.

The victim disclosed to the complainant that the Anim now a convict started to chat with him since March, and through that the convict succeed the boy to direct him to their house to support him with his school assignments.

 Following that the convict took advantage of the minor to have an anal sex with him on three different occasions.

On June 10, the complainant saw that the accused was again chatting with the victim on phone that he will visit him at home.

 The complainant then urged the victim to agree and, therefore, arranged witnesses in the case of the development and asked them to be alert in order to be able the convict in case he shows up.

Truly, on the next day at about 11:30 am, the accused came to the house to have an affair with the victim.

According to DSP Boafo, immediately the convict entered the complainant’s living room, he started to undress himself leaving a boxer short and in the event of removing the victim’s, the boy coughed to signal the witnesses who were then hiding in the kitchen.

They rushed into the living room and effect citizen arrested.

The convict knelt down and started pleading for forgiveness at his arrest.

The complainant was informed of the convict arrest, after which a report was made to the Regional Police Headquarters.

The convict during interrogation admitted to the offence in his cautioned statement and stated that he had unnatural canal knowledge with the victim in the complainant’s living room on two occasions and not three times as reported and does not know what came over him do that.

In the cause of investigations, medical forms were issued to the complainant on behalf of the victim to attend to hospital for treatment.
