The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central in the Central Region, Kennedy Agyapong has expressed joy over how many people have listened and observing the President’s defective to stay home, however, disagreed with those saying it has inconvenienced the poor.

According to him, that argument “I am sorry I have to use this word that is baloney. That is baloney. Let me take this opportunity to educate Ghanaians and I will start with the Bible. The Bible says: “What does it profit a man to gains the whole world and loses his life.” So if we allowed you to go out to do your business and you contracts this disease and you die, then what happens?”

He urged the public not to take things likely because even the richest nations had been exposed, therefore, the citizens must take precautions.

Mr Agyapong advised the citizens to shun all forms of negativity that if they stay home, they might not meet their daily bread in order abide by the orders of the authorities to protect themselves.

He said it is evident that countries that are observing lockdown have managed to reduce infection rate.

“See what they are saying they have also forgotten that if you contract this disease and you come to your house, especially those renting in Kumasi and the rest, one house has about 20 tenants one toilet.  What will happen? You will kill everybody. We have not thought of that. We are only thinking of money-money-money.”

He also complained about how irresponsibly prices of daily essentials were rising but to him, if merchants think “this is the time to make money… Hand sanitizer GHC5.00 is now GHC15.00. We have to be careful the way make money. Because if we don’t take time, the poor person who cannot buy will contract the disease bring it to you the rich guy who is taking the advantage of the system.

“So let us be fair and be sincere to ourselves that look we love our nation.  This is plague that we all need to protect ourselves and not only thinking about money.”

The MP advice to those doubling their prices was that, it would not end them anywhere.

Mr Agyapong made these comments when he made additional donation to the National Security to help combat Covid-19 pandemic.

The items, he donated include 200 hospital beds,  20,000 pieces of gloves, 100 gallons of hand sanitizers and 12,000 pieces of facemask.
