The second accused (A2) in a cocoa trial, Seidu Agongo has reported to court in walking and severe agony of ill health.

A2 for the past three is reported to be down by health challenges, which as a result was alleged to have been admitted at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital respectively.

Following these hospital admissions, Mr Agongo was compelled by the circumstances to miss court for three conservative times, thereby forcing presiding judge, Justice Clemence Honyenuga to give an order.

Thus, on February 14, 2023, the judge ordered that A2 appeared before him today, failure would result in the court, which has enormous powers to rescind Mr Agongo’s bail conditions as well as the case would be continued at his absence.

However, when the case was called today at exactly 10:22 am, after the first accused (A1) Dr Stephen Kwabena Opuni responded, A2 on the other hand was not heard but got quietly from his seat and moved in his walking aid to the accused box with support of unofficial person attending to him.

Ironically, the judge entered absent for Mr Agongo but concealed it, after being told the accused was in fact present.

Nevertheless, A2 lawyers have filed an application for His Lordship to rescue himself from the trial.

This is application is among several others filed by Dr Opuni to cause Justice Honyenuga to remove himself from hearing the case.
