The head Odoi Kwao family of Osu, Nii Odoi Kwao II, known in private life as Robert Koomson, and allegedly to have slapped Greate Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, has held a press conference to make certain demands.

Nii Odoi Kwao II is demanding from the regional minister with immediate effect to repair a vehicle and other properties that were allegedly vandalised by Mr Quartey’s “hoodlums.”

His second demand goes to the Ghana Police Service to take action against a group of individuals who parade themselves about in their family name, to claim compensation from the government for lands released to the state for development projects.

He explained that the matter has been reported to the police for the necessary action to be taken, but since 2021, nothing has so far seen or heard being done about it.

Nii Odoi Kwao II also pushes for the enforcement of absenteeism regulation in Parliament, to ensure that truant members are kicked out of the House.

He also called on President Akufo-Addo to sack appointees who are bringing his government into disrepute.

The family head also want the Judicial Service to sieve through cases that had been severely filed involving the same disputed parties and consolidate them.

Again, he wanted the Ghana Bar Association to deal with members who connive with their clients to fuel litigations without merit.

He held the media conference on Sunday to clarify certain matters bothering the family.

His reasons for the demands had been shelved for the time being, due to relating issues pending before the court.

Nii Odoi Kwao II known together with members of family members threatened to picket, demonstrate and hold lectures to press home their demands, if the government and authorities concerned turned deaf ears to their plights.

Nii Odoi Kwao II also made a clarion call to the Ga people to unite against their adversaries who have no other intention than to seek their downfall.

According to him, the more Gas are divided there better it is for adversaries to satisfy their parochial interest, particularly to steal lands left in their trust by their forebears.

He said the Ga people are witnessing a phenomenon whereby from the paramountcy to the last level of kinship, two people are rivaling over one stool.

Nii Odoi Kwao II said the danger had to do with how political figures had infiltrated the chieftaincy institution of the Ga to an extend that it has developed molds.

“Gas rise! We have two Ga mantse, two Osu mantse. Today, a group of people have rose to contend with us over the ownership  of our ancestral home.

“Today, it is Nii Odoi Kwao family, tomorrow it could be you. The early we unite and rise against our adversaries the better.”

He also took time to take the media through the history of the Nii Odoi Kwao family and the role their forebears played in the Katamanso War as well as their legal battles.
