Prophet Nkansah gets bail after spending Xmas in the cooler

After spending a significant amount of time in lawful custody during the festive season, the Accra Circuit has granted Daniel Nkansah, founder of New Pentecost Vision Church, bail to go home and prepare for his trial.

The “religious leader” was remanded two weeks into lawful custody by Her Honour Afia Owusua Appiah, the presiding judge of the court, on December 21, 2023.

Daniel Nkansah often referred to as Prophet Nkansah had a price tag of GH¢2 million with three sureties to justified attached to his bail.

The 59-year old, who made it to the Ghanaian political scene as the Presidential for New Vision Party, is not standing alone but with his 34-year son, Daniel Boahene Nkansah.

Boahene was slapped with a bail sum of GH¢1 million with two sureties to be justified. He, however, on police enquiry bail.

The father and son had been accused of conspiracy to commit a crime and defrauding by false pretence. They pleaded not guilty to the charges and are expected to reappear before the court on February 6, 2024.

In the particulars of the offences, the prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector Samuel Ahiabor narrated to the court that Daniel Nkansah, first accused (A1), is a pastor and founder of New Pentecost Vision Church at Atiku a suburb of Accra.

Whereas the complainant, Adam Safiana is a businessman and resident of Ablekuma in Accra, Boahene (A2) is the administrator of his father’s church.

According to him, somewhere in September 2023, the complainant wanted landed properties to buy in Accra and during his search got into contact with the accused persons.

A1 indicated to the complainant that he has nine landed properties at Achimota, Mataheko, Bubuashie, Radio Gold, Dansoman, Adabraka-Odawna, Atiko, Lartebiokoshie and North Kaneshie, all within Accra being offered for sale.

The complainant was allegedly required by A1 to make a part payment of GH¢1,305,000.

In furtherance to that, the Accused persons took the complainant and his friend, one Jonathan Ayitey Thompson to inspect the various properties.

After the inspections, the complainant became convinced and bargained the price of the properties with the Accused persons.

On September 22, 2023, November 23, 2023 and November 30, 2023, the complainant paid an amount of Gh¢ 2,30,000.00 to the Accused persons at Atiko in the presence of witnesses.

After having sunk this amount of money, the complainant was barred from renovating one of the properties situated at Lartebiokoshie by the accused persons on the excuse that there is a pending issue in court regarding that particular property.

The complainant became alarmed and on November 17, 2023, he reported the matter to the police for Investigation.

On November 24, 2023, the accused persons brought photocopies of site plans bearing the name of different people such as Boakye Samuel, Kofi Annan, Augustina Okyere, Jessica Etornam Ami Tamakloe, and George Opare.

When asked to produce the people bearing the names on the site plans to assist investigation, they refused.

Meanwhile, investigation revealed that those properties did not belonged to the accused.

In fact, the court was told that the property the Accused wanted to sell the complainant at North Kaneshie is owned the KATECO School
