In response to planned demonstrations by the Democracy Hub, police have deployed a significant presence throughout the city to maintain law and order. This follows a disagreement between the organizers and law enforcement over the designated location for the protests.

Authorities confirmed that while the Democracy Hub had notified the police of their intentions, an acceptable location could not be agreed upon. As a result, police initiated a special operation to ensure public safety and the smooth flow of traffic.

Yesterday, clashes were reported at the 37 interchange, where demonstrators engaged in unlawful acts, including setting fires and obstructing traffic. Police quickly intervened, urging the organizers to consider one of seven alternative locations proposed for the demonstration.

“Today, we are here to monitor the situation closely,” a police spokesperson stated. “Our primary focus remains the safety of all citizens and the management of traffic. We will not allow any disruption to the free movement of the public.”

Police reassured the public that their presence aims to protect life and property, emphasizing a commitment to maintaining peace throughout the city. They urged demonstrators to adhere to agreed-upon guidelines to ensure their rights to protest are balanced with the need for public order.

As the situation unfolds, police will continue to keep the public informed about any developments.
