Stephen Ayensu Ntim, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced that the party’s government has created over 2.3 million jobs for Ghana’s youth over the past eight years.

Ntim made this statement during the launch of the NPP’s 2024 manifesto in Takoradi, emphasizing the party’s achievements despite significant challenges.

According to Ntim, the job creation occurred under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration, which faced hurdles including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

He indicated that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government successfully navigated an economic downturn inherited from the previous administration.

Ntim also praised the government’s efforts to support public sector workers by ensuring they received their wages throughout the pandemic.

He pointed out that the Free Senior High School/Technical and Vocational Education and Training (SHS/TVET) policy increased access to secondary education for 5.7 million young adults. Additionally, the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has consistently provided meals to over 4 million children in early and primary education.

The Chairman further noted the government’s achievements in maintaining a stable energy supply, cleaning up the banking sector, and registering over 18 million people for the Ghana Card, which has been integrated with various public databases to improve service delivery.

Looking forward, Ntim stressed the importance of adapting to digital technologies and advancements such as digital manufacturing, blockchain technology, and virtual reality.

He argued that these innovations present new opportunities in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

As the NPP gears up for the 2024 presidential election, Ntim endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and the party’s presidential candidate, as the leader best suited to continue the progress.

Ntim cited Dr. Bawumia’s role in the digitalization of government services and the development of Ghana’s digital economy as key qualifications for driving the country’s future growth.

In his closing remarks, Ntim urged voters to support Dr. Bawumia and all NPP parliamentary candidates to ensure ongoing strong leadership and the development of a resilient Ghana for future generations.
