NaCCA approves 283 textbooks for KG, P’1′-‘6’
A total of ninety-six (96) second set of textbooks had been approved by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) to argument the 187 first batch.
This brings the total number to 283 approved textbooks for Kindergarten and primary one to six. NaCCA acting under the supervision of the Ministry of Education made this known to the public in a statement recently.
The textbooks, which had gone through various rigorous processes to get approval, is hope to reshape and re direct the country’s education fortunes on a track of competitiveness and innovation.
As a result, NaCCA has since September 2019 been working tirelessly to develop guidelines for publishers to produce tailored textbooks that conform to the expectations of the new curriculum.
In the statement, the Executive Director of NaCCA Dr Prince Armah indicated that the number of textbooks approved so far is an evidence of great and thorough work invested by the Council.
He disclosed that the Council is waiting to receive drafts from the publishers to cover other subject areas, since the NaCCA is determined to improve teaching and learning.
Dr Armah gave the assurance that more books would be considered in the coming weeks, adding “NaCCA welcomes comments and feedbacks from school mangers, teachers, parents and the general public on the recommended textbooks. This will help textbook writers and publisher improve on the quality of textbooks.
