MTN Ghana celebrates Xmas with mothers of Newborns

The MTN Ghana Foundation has distributed about 50 hampers to mothers who gave birth on the Christmas day at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and Kwadaso SDA hospital.

The gifts were presented today, Tuesday 26 December 2023, to mark the Boxing day celebration.

The gesture from Ghana’s leading telecommunications network provider is a continuation of an annual tradition that started inthe year 2011, towards putting a smile on the faces of mothers of newborns on the day to he world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Charity Darko, Head of Corporate Affairs of MTN Northern Business District, explained that told the media after presentation of the gifts that on every Boxing Day, MTN Ghana Foundation visits hospitals across the country to distribute hampers to mothers who gives birth between 24th, 25th, and 26th of December.

She stated that MTN Ghana through its employee volunteers will distribute hampers in all the 16 regions of the country.

She said this year’s is no exception, as MTN will continue to make available hampers containing baby clothing, detergents, baby oil and powder, hand sanitizers, and many other items to mothers and their babies.

According to her, this year they selected the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Kwadaso SDA hospital where as many as 50 hampers were distributed to Christmas born babies and their mothers.

She said 30 hampers were distributed to mothers at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital while 20 went to the Kwadaso SDA hospital.

Mrs Darko expressed MTN excitement in sharing the joy of mothers in bringing new life into the world on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

She added that Christmas is a period of showing love and MTN want to use the opportunity to reach out to mothers who have babies on Christmas Day in that order.

Mrs Gifty Fokuo, Midwife Specialist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, on behalf of of the hospital and the beneficiaries, expressed her profound gratitude to MTN Ghana for the kind gesture.

She, however, disclosed that, Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital recorded eight births new born on 25th December, of which four died.
