Man jailed for distributing wife’s nude pictures

An Accra Circuit Court presided over by Samuel Bright Acquah has sentenced unemployed man into one year imprisonment for sharing wife’s nude pictures.

Samuel Baah, 29, was encapsulated on this week’s Monday.

His sentence follows having pleaded guilty simplicita to the charges – threat of death, non-consensual sharing of intimate image, threat to distribute prohibited image or visual, threat to distribute prohibited image or visual and publication of obscene material – November 16, 2022.

In the brief facts presented by Chief Inspector Isaac Anquandah, the convict was married to the complainant, a businesswoman.

However, somewhere in August 2022, the convict and complainant had some misunderstanding so they got separated.

On the September 2, 2022, the convict sent series of threatening messages to the Complainant, using undesirable words including prostitute on her.

The convict further stated in a voice note that he will disgrace the woman he has spent two years of his life with to her friends and other people in the community where she lives.

As if that was not enough, the convict also threatened the complainant that if she divorced him, he will kill her and himself. 

True to his words, the prosecutor said on September 12, 2022, at about 8:30 am, the complainant received a phone call from a friend that she has received nude pictures of the complainant from unknown number.

Therefore, the court was informed that the complainant submitted a petition to the Director-General of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the case was referred to the cybercrime unit for investigation. 

Prosecutor said, the complainant’s friend was then invited to the office to assist investigation and in the course of that it was reviewed that the convict took naked pictures of the complainant without her consent and distributed the same to the latter’s friends.

The convict was later arrested and he admitted to the offences before been was charged in the honorable court.
