Man butchered for calling driver a thief
Ebo Bediako, 27-year old driver, has butchered a lotto agent said for accusing him of stealing his mobile phone at a public toilet.
Ebo admitted to an Accra circuit court for targeting David Dzakoto’s head with a butcher and kitchen knives after being confronted by the lotto agent.
The driver has been remanded into police custody with one Dennis Neequaye, 20 and a dog breeder, whom he attacked the victim with.
The two were remanded following their plea of guilt to the offences, conspiracy to commit a crime, assault and causing unlawful harm.
Their sentence has been deferred to April 29, 2024, but the Accra Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour Basilica Adjei-Tawiah has ordered the prosecution to prove Dennis connection to the offence of assault.
The court further suggested to the parties to also seek redress from Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) today.Rosemond Anyane, the prosecuting officer, told the court that the complainant David Dzakoto is a lotto Agent and lives at La in Accra.
According to her, on March 5, 2024, the complainant patronized a public toilet around Toyoliko at La and forgot of his phone in the toilet, upon his return to pick up the phone he couldn’t find it.
The caretaker of the toilet facility told the him that it was only Ebo who entered the toilet after he had left. The complainant then confronted Ebo and asked if he has taken any phone from the toilet.
This did not go down well with Ebo who was in the company of his girlfriend and Dennis.
Ebo and Dennis then attacked and assaulted the complainant for accusing Ebo of stealing. People nearby intervene and separated the convicts and complainant.
Ebo also went home and brought two knives, a butcher knife and a kitchen knife. He attacked the complainant’s head with the butcher knife three times and bolted.
The complainant fell down and with the help of the people around they assisted him and took him to the police station.
Ebo and Dennis were subsequently arrested and after investigation, they were charge with the various offence and arraigned before the court.
