Man, 22, jailed for stealing GH¢500
The Accra Circuit Court ‘1’ presided over by Afia Owusuaa Appiah has sentenced Daniel Yaw Larbi, 22 years old and unemployed, to six months into prison.
The court sentenced the convict yesterday after finding him guilty on the offences causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry and stealing, and pleased not guilty to same.
The court, prior to the sentence, was told by Chief Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang that the complainant in the case is one Ruth Nartey, unemployed, and resides at Teshie Tafo with the husband.
He said the Daniel Yaw Larbi alias Scatter is unemployed and stays at Teshie Sea-lady.
According to him, September 3, 2021 at about 1:00 am, the complainant heard a witness in the case shouting thief whiles asleep.
The prosecutor said after the complainant woke up, she realised that her door opened, and the nylon net fixed on the trapdoor slightly burnt.
C/Inspt Tenkoreng added the the complainant also detected that her purse was containing cash sum of Gh¢500.00 and Itel A-12 mobile phone valued Gh¢800.00 which were under her bed were missing.
“Witnesses in the case later pursued accused person and arrested him with complainant’s purse and phone but the money in the purse was nowhere to be found. Accused was later handed over to the Police and during interrogations he admitted the offences and told Police that during his arrest one Study collected the items,” he added.
