Mahama’s commitment to Kumasi development unmatch – NDC chairman
Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), says John Dramani Mahama, former President and Flagbearer of the party, is committed to improving the welfare of the traders in Kumasi and the region.
According to him, the NDC flagbearer has the development of the region at heart and he is willing to do better when allowed to serve the country.
In an interview with some selected media on Wednesday, 10th January 2024, at a press conference organized by traders in Kumasi to call on the former President to help complete the second phase of the Kejetia Market Project and other settlers markets in the metropolis.
The regional Chairman said the call by the trade was not a surprise to him, considering the number of markets that were under construction by the NDC but have been abandoned by the current administration.
He indicated that Mr. Mahama built the New Kejetia terminal popularly called Kejetia Dubai, the Old Tafo, Atonsu, and Asawase markets to the credit in the region, knowing very well that most residents in the Region are into trading and doing business.
Nana Kwasi took the opportunity of the occasion and entreated the traders not to give up but to ensure that they vote massively for the former President and the NDC to win the upcoming 2024 general elections. He said voting massively for the former President was the only way the region would enjoy the development that it deserves.
According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has demonstrated that they have nothing good to offer the people of the Ashanti region, a reason for the past seven years the ruling party cannot pinpoint any major development it has done for the people.
He added that the ruling party has shown a bad fate to the region, therefore, the people should not expect anything from the government. He said the NPP does not have a permanent regional office to even talk of transforming the region.
