KBTH to conduct mass burial on unknown, unclaimed bodies
The Korle Bu Teaching Hospita (KBTH) is urging the general public who relatives are in its morgue to come and claim the bodies.
The hospital has a two-week ultimatum for families as a matter of urgency to claim the bodies of their relative else risk losing them to a mass burial that would be organised to ease the pressure at the morgue.
The bodies to be affected in this mass burial exercise include those that are unknown and unclaimed the hospital’s mortuary.
The move was to decongest the hospital’s mortuary, which is currently full beyond its carrying capacity.
Mustapha Salifu, head of KBTH Public Relations in press release dated Friday, April 24, 2020 indicated that the bodies to be included in the exercise had been in the morgue for between the period of one to three years and this has contributed to the exhaustion of the morgue’s capacity.
The hospital, therefore, urged families who have the bodies of their relatives in its mortuary to come for them before the set time.
