Houseboys allegedly steal madam’s guns

Baiden Ampratwum Junior aka Tunchi and Blessing Adu aka Kweku Adu aka Jack are respectively houseboys of Fransuaza Bridget Arthur and her mother, Elizabeth Arthur.

While Bridget who is an engineer doesn’t live in her Dzorwulo residence with her mother, their houseboys are friends.

Nevertheless, their houseboys were arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court ‘1’ presided over by Prosper Duelove Gomashie today on three counts of stealing.

According to the prosecuting officer Chief Inspector Isaac Anquandah, the accused persons are standing trial for allegedly stealing two guns valued a total of GH¢21,000 from Bridget.

Tunchi and Jack pleaded not guilty to the crimes and the court has consequently them bail in the sum of GH₵30,000 with two sureties, who must live in the jurisdiction of the court.

Brief facts of the case

The facts as presented by the prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector Isaac Anquandah are that Tunchi is Bridget’s houseboy while Jack is a houseboy of Elizabeth Arthur.

He said although Bridget and her mother live in separate houses, the accused persons are friends.

The prosecuting officer told the court that on February 26, 2022, the accused persons stole one 12 bores B. pump action shot gun marked AAH/1726/08MOSBERG T.113161 from the complainant valued at GH¢20,000.

He said accused persons planned that Jack would look for a potential buyer of the gun at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, whilst Tunchi steals the weapon from the complainant’s room.

According to him, an informant blow the accused persons cover to the Police of and surveillance was mounted on them.

He said while the accused persons were at the point of selling the said gun contained in concealed in a carton at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, the police arrested them.

The prosecutor said a search conducted on them further revealed one HSCHMIDT KAL 8mm gas pistol, valued GH¢1,000, which is also the property of the complainant was found on them.

 He said during investigation, the accused persons admitted the offences that they planned together to steal the gun and each confessed the role he played.

According to him, the first accused person led the police to the complainant’s house and demonstrated how he carried out the crime.

“The complainant had since produced documents covering the gun to the police as a rightful owner of same. After investigation the accused persons were charged with the offences and put before this honourable Court,” he said.
