GUM puts Mahama, Akufo-Addo morality to test
Rev Lenin B. K. Trosky, Political Scientist, with the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), has thrown a challenge at New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) to declare their stances on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ).
He threw the challenge particularly at these political parties leaders, President Nana Akufo-Addo with the NPP and Ex-President John Dramani Mahama, NDC, to declare their stances on LGBTQ, if they have any morality left in them.
Rev Trosky said this, Ghanaians are being lured to accept an alien culture that is detrimental to their moral and religious values, adding “The words lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer have been replaced by liberals with the letters LGBTQ. Using initials to hide these offensive words; and people are more likely to accept their ungodly social agenda.”
The Reverend was also concerned with issues of abortion, because a human being should not be allowed to decide whether an unborn child gets to live or not, due to the fact that the Constitution of Ghana guarantees citizen’s life and liberty, therefore, “We have a responsibility to protect the unborn.”
The political scientist said the only way to protect and preserve the remaining moral fabric of society, is for the Ghanaian voter to elect a presidential candidate who can stand and pass morality test.
Meeting selected journalists in Accra today, the Reverend Minister urged that Ghanaians to vote based on cogent political ideology that addresses health, education, social, security and justice system of the country.
He said “God has given us principles that should guide our vote in every single election. There are issues that affect our lives, [including] education and marriages that we need to look at from a godly perspective, because our commitment has to be to Kingdom issues.”
Rev Trosky reiterated the reason for which, citizens must cast their ballots in favour of a candidate who is committed to serve, fears God and has the nation at heart.
“Voting according to these things and based on the right judgement will bring a good harvest to your voting seed. Don’t be influenced by election year conversions. Candidates will say whatever it takes to get the vote.
“After they are elected, they will support their real agenda. Some election year conversions are genuine. Yet when a person is first born again, he/she is still a baby and his/her mind has not yet been renewed to the things of God” he warned.
Rev Trosky said it would be more detrimental on the part of electorates to develop apathy towards this coming election, as it is their civic right to exercise their franchise, so “we need to vote in every general election.”
“We as Christians and Muslims must not lose interest in the political arena. We have to stay with our commitment to see this country turn toward godly values. We must continue to vote what we believe,” he added.
To him, Christian Kwabena Andrews, flagbearer of GUM stand tall among other candidates seeking the votes of electorates, since he has proven to be a man of distinct.
