Funding delayed Sewua hospital completion – Prez

President Akufo-Addo has blamed finding, as the main cause of the government’s inability to complete the Sewua Hospital on schedule.

He said his government was unable to raise enough revenue to pay the Indian contractor working on the project.

But he finally said there is light at the end of the tunnel for the hospital to be commissioned in December this year.

President Akufo-Addo said this while addressing the passing out of junior officers at the Military Academy and Training School (MATS) in Accra on August 30, 2022.

He promised that other projects to benefit the Army are in their advance stages or near completion.

Mr Akufo-Addo used the occasion to remind the junior officers of their role to help guarantee the territorial integrity and development of the country.

He further urged them to be guided by the principles of duty, service, sacrifice and selflessness in safeguarding the interest of the state, which should be paramount throughout their career.

“Your action and in actions, as officers could have dire consequences for the Armed Forces and the entire nation.You must uphold professionalism at all times while demonstrating patriotism, discipline, and responsiveness to deal with operational exigencies. Ghana expects nothing less,” he stressed.

The Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces further cautioned the officers against acts that would mar public trust and relationship with the Army.

“I’m reminding you today that your commissioning into the Armed forces plays great responsibility on you to guide against the temptation of using the uniform to intimidate your civilian counterparts who are your natural partners in the development of our nation and whose taxes provide the means for you substances as members of the Armed forces.”
