Fixing the country impasse: Hopeson Adorye speaks
Hopeson Adorye has explained why there was a sudden split in the Fixing the Country Movement, which he and Ernest Owusu Bempah spearheaded to counter #fixthecountry, social media propagandists.
He said he doesn’t want to soil his name or mar his reputation in any money driven conflict.
According to him, he is not into politics to make money or to amass wealth but to leave a worthy legacy for his children.
Mr Adorye said this at press conference organised yesterday by Fixing the Country Ghana, which he now leads.
The press conference was aimed at touting the achievements of President Akufo-Addo since took levers of power for almost six years now.
In a statement read by Fadi Dabbousi, a member of the group, was to the effect that President Akufo-Addo has channelled more energy and resources to the education sector.
According to Mr Dabbousi, Ghana’s first President Dr Kwame Nkrumah achievement in education cannot be compared to Akufo-Addo’s.
He added that in Africa, President Akufo-Addo’s govenment is the only regime that is doing so much for education.
That is, the government has resourced the technical universities in the country in order to capacitated their ability to train a well skilled labour.
Similarly, the government is pushing for a youth base driven by Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), hence the resourcing of the technical universities.
This agenda has pushed the government to build second cycle schools with STEM facilities in the Ashanti, Eastern, Western and the North East regions of Ghana.
To add icing to the cake, the academic curriculum has been redesigned to ensure STEM agenda is achieved since all students will take a minimum of two years of biology, chemistry and physics.
