Father in court over 21 year old defiling daughter @ age 13
An electrician, age 30, is in court to see the full trial of one Muntaru Tanko, 21, for allegedly defiling his13 year old daughter.
Tanko, head potter and resident of Konkomba market in Accra was said to have been in a love relationship the teenager for two weeks.
The relationship resulted in the teenager regularly vising the accused person in his room.
The Circuit Court ‘5’ presided over by Mrs Christina Cann was told by the prosecution that on March 28, 2021 at about 12:00 midnight, the electrician son who sleep with the victim and other relative in the same room could not find the sister’s whereabouts.
According to the prosecution led by Chief Inspector K. Atimbira, in the process of searching the victim was found in the accused person’s room by her brother.
On the same day, the victim told her brother at about 8:00am, the accused person had sexual intercourse with her in his room on different occasions and that March 24, 2021 was the last incident that happened about 7:40pm.
On March 28, a report was made at Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU/AR) and the victim was issued with police medical form to be sent to the hospital for examination, treatment as well as submission of the medical report.
The accused person was arrested and he has admitted to the offence of defilement but pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The judge admitted the accused person to bail in the sum of GH₵60,000, with three sureties, two to be justified with any landed property worth GH₵60,000.
The landed property’s evaluation report and title deed should be deposited in the registry of the court pending the determination of this case.
She also ordered that the prosecution to file their witness statements and all documents they intended to rely on and serve copies on the accused person.
The case was adjourned to April 13, 2021 for Case Management Conference.
