Without the necessary documentations and checks, an estate developer purchased a land Sakumo Ramser site at a huge lost.

The estate developer bought two plots of the international conserved wetland to develop from four men who didn’t issue him either a receipt or title deeds covering the said property.

Ashie Anum,  Emmanuel Otu Damfa,  Daniel Bortey, and Ishmael Afotey (at large) had been charged for conspiracy to commit a crime and fraudulent transaction.

The case was presented before an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Samuel Bright Acquah but the accused persons failed to honour the invitation to attend the court.

Details of the case as contained in the facts are that on January 1, 2023, the above mentioned accused persons visited the complainant’s residence and informed him of two plots of land that Afotey was offering for sale at the Sakumo Ramser Site.

He said the complainant was led to the site by the accused persons the following day and upon inspection and further persuasions by the accused persons, the estate developer showed interest in buying the land.

On January 25, 2023, the aforementioned accused persons visited the complainant’s residence again and demanded and collected cash in the sum of $7,700.00 USD being the cost of the 2 plots of land without handing over any official documents to the complainant in the presence of his wife Gladys Nartey, a witness in this case.

However, the complainant visited the land the following week with his building materials to have the land developed, another person surfaced,  claiming ownership of the same land.

The other party claiming ownership of the same land did not only prevented the complainant from developing the site but  to caused damage to properties belonging to him.

The complainant after several attempts to compel the accused persons to refunded his money proved futile, hence reported the matter to the Baatsonaa Police.
The accused persons were invited by the Police to assist in investigation and during interrogated they admitted the offences.

They told the police that greater part of the money was given  Afotey who does not have any land at the said location.

After investigations, they were charged with the offences and put before this honourable court
