Chiefs and people from the Central region have frown on a claim attributed to Godfred Yeboah Dame, Attorney-General (A-G) and Minister for Justice, that Fantes are cheap.

According to them, if the allegation is anything to go by then it’s unfortunate and the least to be said by any public officer holder.

Danfo Baah, Biseade Odikro, in an interview after today’s court hearing, said although the statement was made in secret, it has been revealed in public because that is not the way to go as a country.

He said such loose talk must to be curtailed and not encouraged in any Ghanaian society, because the people in region where that Mr Dame hails from are not better than Fantes.

The Biseade Odikro added that Fantes cannot be cheap for being understanding and discerning.

The Chief said the government is rather creating a path for political witch hunting, and if power exchange hands, it will spell doom for them, since the same measure would be used against them as they did to their opponents.

He added that the government cannot continue to be misapplying taxpayers’ money in such an insurmountable manner.

“The case has been running for some time now but today we want to come and see things for ourselves to confirm what is being reported in the media is true,” he spoke in Fante and translated in English.

To him, the charge against his Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, Dr. Cassiel Baah Ato Forson is nothing but baseless and unfounded.

He reiterated that the government by its own actions and deeds has put itself on a trial.

His response follows Richard Jakpa, businessman and third accused (A3) in the 200 ambulance case, insistence that Godfred Yeboah Dame, in deed referred to Fante people of the Central region of Ghana as cheap.

He said the A-G referred to Fantes as cheap because their conscience can easily be bought with money to act otherwise.

This, he said when answering questions under-cross examination at the Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe on June 27, 2024.

His testimony that Mr. Dame had said Fantes are cheap became a subject of cross-examination by Alfred Tuah Yeboah, Deputy Minister for Attorney General and of Justice.

According to Jakpa, those were the exact words of the A-G when they, Richard and Godfred, had an encounter in Justice Yonny Kolendi’s house sometime in March this year.

Mr. Dame has vehemently denied the allegation, saying that he attended Adisadel College and had his primary education in the Central region so there is no way he could go against Fantes.
