Court remands Nii Ahene Numoo III’s assistant for possessing a firearm

King Manuel, 37, and alleged Personal Assistant (PA) of Nii Ahene Numoo III of Abola Piam in Accra had been remanded into lawful police custody for possessing a firearm and ammunition.

King was remanded last Tuesday by an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour Afia Owusuaa Appiah to reappear before it today.

The accused was arrested on August 8, 2022, at about 3:00 pm during the sprinkling of ‘Kpokpoi’ to mark the Homowo celebration by the Abola Piam, one of the royal gates of the Ga people, by the Alpha Swat Unit of the Accra Regional Police Command.

Chief Inspect Samuel Ahinbor told the court that a search conducted on King revealed one unregistered Huntington Beach CA – a USA pistol with serial number 91175 – with one empty magazine, three live cartridges of AA short 32g, BB 32g Supreme and Zuber Blank cartridge 70 sound.

C/Inspt Ainbor further indicated to the court that King claimed ownership of the pistol during interrogation and stated that he acquired it from his boss relative called uncle.

The prosecuting officer pleaded with the court to remand to accused as an investigation is still ongoing to arrest the said uncle.
