Court grants Kantamanto Market suspected arsonist bail
The Kaneshie District Court has slapped a suspected arsonist of Kantamato Market fire outbreak, Daniel Komila Dah, a bail in a tune of GhC30,000.00 and with two sureties to be justified.
Mr Dah was arrested in connection with an alleged message he posted on a Facebook group page called ‘NDC Administrator’ on December 14, 2020 that “tomorrow we will be burning Kantamato.“
In a brief facts as presented by Detective Sgt Richard Amoah, the accused person who is a teacher by profession and a resident of Ho in the Volta region, posted this message a day before the largest second-hand clothing market was razed to the ground by fire on December 15, 2020.
This message led to his arrest on December 18th but denied any knowledge of the said charges of causing unlawful damages to stores, goods and properties running into millions of cedis.
His lawyer, Theophilus Donkor pleaded with the court presided over by Her Honour Rosemond Agyiri to grant Deniel Komila Dah bail, which she did with conditions attached.
Dah per part of the bail conditions, the accused person is to appear before a police station in Accra first Monday of every month.
However, the prosecutor informed the court that they are contacting Facebook Incorporated to enable them access the accused information, which will be vital to investigation.
The case has been adjourned to January 12, 2021.
