Court gives Two brothers GHC100K bail
One Rexford Laryea Mensah, a student and his brother, Francis Afotey Mensah who also is a CEO of Post Genexix Limited, had been arranged before an Accra Circuit Court for the offences of assault, threat of death, conspiracy to commit crime and causing unlawful damage.
The prosecutor, Chief Inspector E. O. Adjei told the court presided over by Her Honour Ellen Ofei Ayeh said one Ruben Tay Junior, a Computer Engineer, resident at Coco Beach, Nungua, reported that on March 27, 2017 was alleged assaulted by the two brothers.
According to him, Tay Junior on that fateful day went the two brothers at their home at Nungua Barrier in the company of three others, but the purpose was to see one Frederick Afotey Mensah, a sibling of the accused persons.
However, the complainant together with the others met Rexford Laryea Mensah (1st accused) on their veranda and was asked to give reasons for looking the brother who is alleged to be his business partner for two years.
Interestingly, the complainant failed to explain his reasons clearly, as a result 1st accused went berserk and hit complainant on his chest.
Rexford Laryea Mensah then called the 2nd accused who also lives in a detach apartment. Francis Afotey Mensah came to the scene and went back for his pistol and fired two shots into the air.
The prosecutor added that 2nd accused allegedly pointed the pistol at the complainant but missed to him, adding he went back to his apartment and brought out a pump action gun.
He stated that complainant to his heels and fled the scene with one of the people he visited the accused person’s residence with.
Unfortunately, he said the 2nd accused person raised alarm that the complainant and his company are thieves and gathered some people wielding a pump action gun.
The 2nd accused together with 1st accused and those they have gathered followed the complainant who had parked his car about 100 metres away from the scene, to vandalize the car as well as ceasing some documents from him.
The prosecutor added after the incident was reported to the police the accused persons were arrested and have returned the documents.
The court then slapped the accused persons with a bail sum of GHC100, 000.00, three gainfully employed sureties and each should be justified.
The court also ordered that each of the sureties deposit photocopy of his or her passport and national identification card or voter identification card.
The case has been adjourned to may 19, 2021.
