The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has deployed 45 observers to key constituencies across Ghana to oversee the voter exhibition exercise.

This initiative underscores CODEO’s dedication to ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process as the nation approaches the December 2024 general elections.

Before their deployment, CODEO provided comprehensive training for the observers, focusing on professional standards and best practices to ensure accurate monitoring and reporting.

The training aimed to equip the observers with the skills necessary to uphold the integrity of the voter exhibition.

Albert Kofi Arhin, CODEO’s National Coordinator, highlighted the significance of the voter exhibition, which runs from August 20 to August 27, 2024.

He emphasized that this exercise is crucial for encouraging active citizen participation and supporting the Electoral Commission’s efforts to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election.

In his address, Mr. Arhin stressed the importance of impartiality for the observers, saying, “As observers, your role is to observe, not to interfere. Your professionalism is essential to the credibility of this exercise and the integrity of our electoral system.”

CODEO also urged registered voters to verify their details during the exhibition period, either by visiting exhibition centers or using the Electoral Commission’s short code. This step is vital for maintaining an accurate voter register.

The coalition called on the Electoral Commission to uphold high standards of impartiality and transparency, ensuring that all registered voters have access to the process.

CODEO also recommended that the Electoral Commission and the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) boost public awareness campaigns to inform voters about the exhibition.

Moreover, CODEO emphasized the need for all stakeholders, including political parties and their supporters, to adhere to electoral laws and resolve any disputes through legal channels to maintain the peace and integrity of the electoral process.

CODEO remains committed to promoting a transparent and fair electoral environment and
