Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin couldn’t have gotten it right than to teach President Akufo-Addo what separation of powers in the three Arms of Government is all about.

Responding to a comment made by President Akufo-Addo on anti+ LGBTQ+ Bill before Parliament, when engaging the United States Vice President Kamala Harris on her visit to Ghana, Mr. Bagbin made it clear that the anti-LGBTQ bill would be passed.

President Akufo-Addo told Mrs Harris that “the discussion I had with the Chairman of the Committee, the substantial elements of the bill have already been modified as a result of the intervention of the Attorney General. We will see what the final outcome will be and that is the stage at which I will also have the opportunity to come in.”

This, the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament said the President had it all wrong, saying “This is a ward to his Excellency the president. There is no way he can intervene. That answer he gave that now it is before parliament and when it gets to his stage will come in.

Yeh! This is legislation not execution. Wait till we pass it and direct it to the executive. That is where you come in. That is why we’re the representatives of the people. In terms of law, which is part of policy, we finalize it and then the executive now have to implement it, executive it.

Let get this clear, once this bill is before here he is not in charge, I’m in charge. I hope the US Vice President is not yet gone but she will read from me.”

On the practice of LGBTQ+, he said “this things should not be tolerated. It is undemocratic. What is democracy that somebody else would have to dictate to me as to what is good and bad! Unheard of.

Wondering why the West is pushing the agenda of single sex marriage, the Speaker further added “because we have devalued ourselves to go begging? Come on we have more than enough. God has created more than enough for every person. It is just because you’re looking at somebody else share. We have enough in the world.

This bill will be passed.
